  • It helps to understand that beg bugs are not a sanitation issue!!!

  • They are just as likely to be found in a 5 star hotel as a 1 star hotel.

  • I would recommend checking the room BEFORE you bring you luggage into the room. If that is not practical leave your bags in the hallway (keep a eye on them) and then inspect the room.

  • Bed bugs hide in the day and come out at night to feed, ON YOU! They tend to live next to where they eat. The bed!!! But can be found in hollow bed post, behind pictures, in the base of lamps in the walls. You get the point. They are very small and very flat. They can hide in wide variety places.

  •  To inspect for bed bugs you pull the sheets on the bed back starting at the end of the bed where the Headboard is and pull back sheets on the bed. If you see brownish red spots or streaks. Get out right away!!! Don’t forget to check the box spring and other area’s they might be hiding.

  • Keeping your luggage on the luggage stand in a good idea. Check it for bed bugs before you place anything on it.

  • Be careful packing it up when you leaving. Bed bugs are some of the best Hitchhikers in the world!!!! They are carried to other hotels and to people’s homes in their luggage and on their clothing.

  • They can live for up to a year without eating.
  • If you get bed bugs call a PROFESSIONAL for help as soon as you notice them as they spread through a building the longer they are left untreated.

  • If you would like more information about Bed bugs follow the link on General Pest control page to the University of Kentucky’s site.
